Verizon, on Wednesday, revealed that it is planning to launch wireless 5G home internet service across five different cities in the US by the end of 2018.
5G home internet network is expected to be 10-100 times faster and smoother than Verizon’s cellular connections. And, Sacramento, capital of the US state of California is going to be the first city to experience it in the second half of the year. Whereas, more information about its availability will be disclosed later by the company.
“Verizon estimates the market opportunity for initial 5G residential broadband services to be approximately 30 million households nationwide,” the company’s officials said.
Well, there is nothing to be shocked about why Verizon is showing its cards so early. It is quite understood that the company is in serious competition with AT&T, which is also working on 5G technology and hoping to launch it across the country by the end of 2018. Therefore, Verizon wants to make a strong statement that it is working swiftly to deploy 5G service within a few months.
